Giving Back

Pfizer places a great emphasis on giving back to the community in their efforts to become the world's most prestigious pharmaceutical company in the industry.  Growing from a small local business to a worldwide corporation, Pfizer makes sure to keep their focus on being conscious the community and world we live in.  Despite being a large corporation, Pfizer downplays their size and are very personal with the community in relating information to the public.  On Pfizer's website, they share seven commitments for a healthier world for us to live in.   Pfizer concentrates most of their attention on preserving the enviornment and being mindful of their carbon footprint.  They are very ethical and submit social responsibility reports focusing on safe working conditions and their ways of protecting our enviornment while using and disposing potentially dangerous chemicals and drugs.  As well as the enviornment and their carbon footprint, Pfizer also participates in many projects and charities revolving around the element of human health.  They offer tips for safe medicinal use for all people worldwide.  They do a great job of promoting these projects and and philosophies of being very personal with the community.

Pfizer's biggest emphasis on its relationship with the community comes through the mission of protecting the enviornment and being conscious of their carbon footprint.  After all, the enviornment plays a major role on our health and Pfizer does a great job of being mindful of that.  Pfizer manages their carbon footprint through data collection and verification, internal audits, facility self-assesments, and management system reviews.  Pfizer is constantly researching in ways to conserve energy and preserve the enviornment, including recent advancements in their Belgium global supply plant.  Pfizer Global Supply's facility in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium installed a 2,400-square-meter photovoltaic system that will provide 171 megawatt hours of renewable energy for the site which is enough to power 50 households per year.  On their website, Pfizer also provides a video of the various ways in which they reduce their carbon footprint and protect our enviornment.



Pfizer also participates in various charities and programs all around the world.  Going along with their mission to research and develop ways to better one's health, they participate in various health charities such as the St. Baldrick's Foundation.  Through this foundation, Pfizer has raised more than $30,000 in childhood cancer research, surpassing their goal of $25,000.  Pfizer is very culturally diverse in getting involved with the community and is involved in many programs worldwide.  Pfizer recently sponsored 100 underprivileged children in Thailand to foster teamwork and leadership traits and increase their environmental awareness.  As well as charities and programs, Pfizer also donates a lot of money for up and coming employees in the pharmaceutical industry.  This shows their dedication to the industry and advancement in medicine.  Since 1984, Pfizer has accepted over 1000 proposals to various schools of nursing and medicine. 

Having a good relationship with the community is very important in the pharmaceutical field as millions of people depend on them for their health.  Pfizer is very active in the community by contributing to several charities and programs, as well as remaining very personal to the public, earning their trust and loyalty.
